tradition providing hospitality for over 150 years - within walking distance of

was built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel the famous engineer and the 'Royal' prefix
was given as a reminder of Queen Victorias visit to the City of Bath. The Royal
commenced trading in 1846. The original name was the Royal Station
Hotel and because of the growing influence of rail travel and its close proximity
to the station in 1852 an upper level footbridge was built directly linking the
first floor of the hotel with the station platforms, for the convenience of hotel
guests. This footbridge remained until 1936. 31 en suite bedrooms, all redecorated
in 2000 in a traditional style - which adds to the character and attraction of
staying at The Royal. All beds have also been replaced with new very high quality
ones for the added comfort of our guests. Recently the wrought iron Georgian
glass canopy was restored to its former elegance, thereby enhancing the entrance
